A week on from a 3-1 win at the home of football, the 2s travelled south for an immediate return showdown at Whitgifts. The mind games started early, with the team placed in a nursery room as a changing room, but this backfired as Nick felt right at home and was very motivated by the bubble tube.
No sooner had the game started than captain, leader, legend Phill went down injured and was replaced by Fred, with Mike giving up the dream of being a Witan striker man of the match for another week by moving back to CB with Charlie.
The Jake and Sturgi striking swarm was causing all kinds of havoc up front and it wasn't long before Jake cut in on his left and curled one into the top corner. Fred added a second shortly later after being put through, although Whitgifts pulled one back just before the break.
Early in the second half a Whitgifts leveller was followed by a 15 minute burst after the break from the ‘swarm’ saw Witan hit 5 for the first time this season, goals for Theo and Jake and an OG.
So it’s 5 from 5 for the boys in blue and a league double over Whitgifts. Man of the Match went to Dave for an assured midfield performance. Haddock shout for Phil’s Kit Kat ankles but Wrighty took it for a second consecutive week for a few different violations, namely getting nutmegged and also putting Phill’s armband on only for it to keep falling down every time he ran anywhere.
